Economic & Community Development

NMC Economic Advisors has worked with city, county, state, and federal economic development programs impacting small business, economic development, community development, and housing, among other areas. Cofield has experience building industry cluster models, entrepreneurship and government funded entrepreneurship programming.

A results-driven executive, Cofield’s has been responsible for providing advisement on the deployment of $1.2 trillion in federal funds and was directly responsible for supporting the deployment of more than $200 million in funding to ecosystems and entrepreneurs throughout the country during the greatest economic crisis in modern history. Collectively, her small business advisory efforts have been responsible for supporting the deployment of more than $300 million in funding to ecosystems and entrepreneurs throughout the country.

Most recently Cofield served as a presidentially-appointed Assistant Administrator of the Small Business Administration where she held a leadership role over the national operations and footprint of the U.S. Small Business Administration and their roughly 35,000 employees, 2,000 resource centers, and hundreds of field offices across the country.


Small Business Market Advisory

Cofield has worked with Fortune 500/1000 companies, foundations, and large nonprofit organization to establish, evaluate, and build go-to-market products, platforms and initiatives to deepen small business engagement and strategy.


Higher Education Advisory

NMC Economic Advisors focus in the realm of higher education includes the development and establishment of entrepreneurship, business, and innovation programming at institutions of higher education. She has been responsible for advising, creating, and funding - roughly $15 million in funds - economic development programs at educational institutions.


International Economic Development Advisory

For roughly 20 years Natalie has operated in her passion as a leader in the women's equality movement, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship and economic parity. She has provided women’s empowerment training in North and South America, the Caribbean, and Africa, among other locales. She is the former SBA Designee for the White House Gender Policy Council, and former Chair of the Economic Development Committee for the DC Commission on Women, among many other national roles, focused on gender and equity for women.

Cofield is the former head of the Office of Women’s Business Ownership at the U.S. Small Business Administration where she was responsible for the largest expansion of the Women’s Business Center network in the history of the U.S. Small Business Administration a total of 146 centers and $70 million in funding, and was an advisor to the National Women’s Business Council.

Natalie has led and advised on international economic development programs and policies with focus on micro-finance, micro-enterprise, and gender equality in the context of economic development.
